Drone Roof Inspection: What’re the Best Drones to Use

Roof inspection is an absolute must for several reasons including weather damage, ageing, leak and assessment, vegetation damage, storm damage and an endless list of reasons. These days you don’t need to stress yourself climbing the roof to inspect it or hiring someone to do so, drones can easily be deployed to inspect the roof.

Drone roof inspection doesn’t take much time or require so many procedures as long as you know what do, which drones and accessories to use, you are good to go. For instance, you might need a thermal camera if you have solar panels installed on your roof. Asides that, there isn’t much of a requirement to get started with drone roof inspection.

For starters, you need a high-quality drone which is easy to pilot, small and stable, able to get as close to the roof as possible, offers a live feed of the inspection via videos and able to snap and save high-quality images (camera should be superb).

What types of drones would be great for my roof inspection?

Like stated above, you need a drone with high-quality imagery, easy to fly and offer great flight time (say 20 minutes minimum). Also depending on your budget, you can find drones under 1000USD which would do the work perfectly.

Some great drones for roof inspection include:

DJI Phantom 3 Standard which comes with a price tag under 500USD making it a budget-friendly drone for your roof inspection. It has a 2.7K camera quality which is a decent grade for the roof inspection and lets you stream videos captured in flight on your Smartphone or tablet.

The Yuneec Q500 is another quality drone for roof inspections. The RC transmitter makes it even more conducive to see what’s happening in flight in real-time, and its camera produces 4K high-quality videos and images.
