Things to Look for Before Buying an Aerial Photography Drone

Thinking of becoming a drone hobbyist due to your undying love for photography? That’s a great call. Drones are great for capturing classic looking images of environments, houses, people, and so on which would give a unique perspective from the usual everyday pictures taken by your average photographer. Take advantage of the next-gen tech and purchase a ready to fly aerial photography drone and quench your craving.

What to Look for When Purchasing an Aerial Photography Drone

If you would be going into aerial photography, it’s important to remember that your drone must be high-quality with no vibration. Also, it should be able to hover in a spot. Keeping your camera steady in the air while the drone is in motion is very important which is why you need a camera gimbal.

Since you would be taking lots of images, you need a drone with a long flight time. Never compromise quality for the budget, so get the drone which is the most reliable, so it doesn’t disappoint you (and damage your drone).

Many aerial photography drones come with GPS which is an important tech for keeping updated with the drone’s route. You can use either waypoint to track the drone while it’s in the air (waypoints are used to program routes the drone should fly) or just track its current position.

Depending on the type of drone you purchase, there are several other features your drone can have including;

  • Obstacle avoidance
  • Automatic take-off/landing
  • One-key return
  • Follow me
  • Circle around point of interest,
  • Panoramic photography

Here are a few things to consider buying with/for your aerial photography drone:

  • Large capacity batteries for longer flight time (say between 20 to 30 minutes)
  • High-speed ESCs to handle all the current generated
  • High-quality 4K Camera
  • Extra motors for the extra needed stability
  • High-powered motors able to handle the load
  • Larger propellers to ensure stability
  • Frame which is large for carrying heavy load and for ensuring a stable flight
  • Flight controller (FC) with a high processing speed for stable flight, OSD and gimbal control.
  • A video transmitter would be handy for displaying live feed (picture/video) and on-screen display (OSD)
