The risks for the real estate industry using UNLICENSED drone operators, is it worth the risk ?

With the de-regulation of the drone industry in 2016, there are now many UNLICENSED drone operators providing services to the real estate industry.  That poses a hazard to your business………Why?  The Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Australia is the governing body to ensure aviation safety and is responsible for issuing and certifying licenses for commercial drone pilots for unmanned aircrafts.  This license is called a Remote Pilot Certificate and ensures the pilots understand the rules of use. Along with basic safe flying practices, drone pilots must understand the flight height requirements and where they can and cannot fly. For example, licensed operators have to complete a risk assessment for each job thus ensuring the safety of property, people and the airspace around the operation. Licensed operators have a greater understanding of the different levels of airspace, (Class A to G Including restricted and prohibited airspace) prior to each flight a licensed operator must conduct a safety briefing for all personnel involved in the operation and conduct a preflight check list to ensure the UAV is airworthy for that mission.  Damage Liability  Like any professional trade or profession e.g. electricians, plumber and doctors, they are qualified and certified by the relevant […]

Drone pipeline inspection

Drone pipeline inspection: Safe & cost-effective method for the industrial infrastructure Businesses want methods that save money yet maintain the level of quality and productivity in its operations and management. The oil and gas pipeline infrastructure is one area of the industry that regularly needs monitoring and inspection. Using the drone pipeline inspection method can save the company billions of dollars in safety aspects, the risk to human life, and equipment expenditures. Pipelines have huge areas covered in laying out lines and its structural support. Underground piping require laborious tasks to detect leaks or damages caused by fortuitous events. Damages may be the cause of earth movement or from vandals and saboteurs exploiting the unsecured expanse of the length of a pipeline by tampering or causing it to leak. Traditional methods of pipeline inspection Procedures of detecting leaks and damages in pipelines were expensive and involve unsafe human practices. The traditional way to inspect pipelines was using manned helicopters and vehicles to go to the site and investigate on a leaking or ruined gas line. The method exposes investigators to the harmful elements that may lead to physical harm where helicopters fly precariously at a height of 183 meters to […]

Drone Flare Inspection

Gas and oil companies can never do without the assistance of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or commonly known as drones for their flare stack inspections. The drone flare inspection is very crucial to the company’s operation to prevent accidents and shut down. Drones are more recognized and highly utilized as tools for remote inspections especially in the oil and gas industry. Drone flare inspection is a must for the flare system. The system safely dispose off the unused gas platforms to prevent the accumulation of flammable cloud that could trigger fire or explosion. It functions effectively if the Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs are fully transformed into non-hazardous burning products without generating smoke. In an oil and gas refinery, drone flare inspection is a regular routine to ensure the safety of its workers and for continuous operation. Flare stacks are essential because it is where shooting flames come out. These are excess gases formed in the course of chemical manufacturing burning off. At the flare stack’s opening, the temperature could reach to hundreds of degrees. The metal would be in a constant, extreme pressure. The tiniest crack or even the minimum amount of wear in the unlikely area would cause […]
